Udemy Class Review: How to Create Android Apps Without Coding Advance Course

Android is everywhere nowadays. In addition to powering the user experience on essentially all non-Apple smartphones, Android is also used on numerous tablets, TV boxes, low-end computers and a variety of other devices. This has lead to the creation of an enormous burgeoning app market, and people with the technical know-how to create these apps are highly in-demand. If you’ve never dealt with coding a program before, creating an Android app can be exceedingly difficult, but as Udemy’s “How To Create Android Apps Without Coding Advance Course” will show you, there’s more than one way to create an app and some of them are relatively easy.

Course Overview

This course focuses on the development of Android apps using online app builder software. Using an app builder to create an app can be done without any coding knowledge, which makes the development process exceedingly easy compared with creating the app entirely on your own. Ultimately, though, you will have less control over the software you create using an app builder. You will be limited by the app builder in what sort of features you can add to your app, and you won’t be able to fine-tune the code to achieve optimal performance. If you knew how to do that, however, then you would probably be handcrafting your own app instead of taking this course anyway.

The lecturer starts the course off by reviewing several online app builders in terms of price and what features they offer. Ultimately, the lecturer recommends you to use an app builder referred to as Mobincube, which allows you to create an unlimited number of apps without any size limit for absolutely free. Mobincube supports this service by placing ads on any app you create, but this also benefits you as they will share some of the ad revenue with you. Mobincube also lets you create apps for iOS as well as Android.

In the next lecture, the course goes into detail about setting up the basic foundation of your app. This involves some minor image manipulation to create button images for your prototype app. The lecturer recommends Canva for this purpose, but essentially any image editing utility such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, or even Microsoft Paint will work. The images created using one of these utilities are then uploaded to Mobincube for use in your app.

The app builder itself has a user-friendly graphical interface that essentially lets you build an app by clicking and dragging objects around on an on-screen phone. The lecturer demonstrates this by creating a simple navigation menu. Adding images and content to the app is similarly easy and straightforward, after which you can connect your content and navigation menu together.

Conclusion

The remainder of the course goes over topics such as modifying the advertising content on your app and publishing it to the app store. Overall, I feel the lecturer did an excellent job of introducing this software to students in the class, but at the same time, I can’t help feeling that this class is realistically unnecessary. Mobincube has clearly worked to make the app production process quick and easy using their software, and overall it feels like something you could easily learn to use on your own without taking a class. I wouldn’t go so far as to recommend against taking this course, but I would highly recommend anyone interested in creating their own app try Mobincube first and then take the course if they feel they need some additional help.
