Samsung Will Announce the Galaxy Note 10 on August 7th

The wait is almost over for phone buyers who look at the Galaxy S10 and wish it had more features. Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 10 on August 7th. As usual, the teaser invitation doesn’t provide all the details, but we can confirm it’s a Note phone with the expected S Pen stylus, and there will be at least one notable camera.

The Galaxy Note series is always Samsung’s “kitchen sink” smartphone. It has all the features of the Galaxy S phone that precedes it by a few months, plus a few new tricks. Notes also tend to include larger displays, more RAM, and additional battery life. Of course, the price tag is also higher — the last few Note phones have started at $1,000.

Samsung’s new Unpacked invitation only shows the tip of an S Pen (confirming it’s a Note announcement) and a single camera sensor. There were rumors circulating a few months ago based on a patent filing that Samsung would add a camera to the S Pen, but we don’t believe that will be the case for the Note 10. Instead, leaked photos have shown the supposed Note 10 with a single front-facing camera. Instead of the “Infinity-O” hole punch in the corner, the Note 10 appears to have the camera in the top middle of the display. Several versions of the Galaxy S10 had secondary cameras on the front for depth-sensing, but it looks like the Note 10 drops that.

Rumors point to at least two different versions of the Note 10. One will be slightly smaller, around the same as the Galaxy S10. The other will be bigger and have the option for 5G connectivity. This will be millimeter wave 5G for most US carriers, which is still in very limited pockets around major cities. It wouldn’t be surprising if the 5G version started well above $1,000 like the Galaxy S10 5G.
