New Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 Leak Reveals Screen Sizes, Water Resistance
Samsung is widely expected to unveil its latest foldable phones in the coming weeks, but there’s very little left to learn after the repeated leaks. There’s yet another leak making the rounds, featuring some details on S Pen support, screen sizes, and water resistance — yes, the phones apparently have that now.
The devices in question are the Z Flip3 and Z Fold3. The former is the clamshell-style foldable, and the Fold3 is essentially a tablet that folds in half to offer a phone-like experience. The new leak from Evan “evleaks” Blass clarifies the supposed screen measurements. The smaller Z Flip will have a 6.7-inch internal foldable screen with a 1.9-inch external “cover display.” That’s up from the tiny ticker-style display on the outside of the last Z Flip. The Z Fold3 will measure 7.6 inches on the inside, just like its predecessor. The external screen will be close to the same as well at 6.2 inches.
The leak includes a bit more about the camera setups as well. The Flip will have a pair of 12MP sensors on the rear with a 10MP selfie camera inside. The main cameras will probably be standard and ultrawide, but the Fold3 should have standard, ultrawide, and a telephoto of some sort. All three of its rear sensors will be 12MP, too. The selfie camera at the top of the foldable screen will only be 4MP, but you can (and should) use the primary cameras flipped around toward you, if at all possible.
Few upcoming foldable details.
Z Flip3– 6.7" internal / 1.9" cover displays– 12MP x2 (rear) / 10MP (selfie)
Z Fold3– 7.6" internal / 6.2" external displays– 12MP x3 (rear) / 10MP (cover selfie) / 4MP (main selfie)– 2 optional S-Pens (Pro and Fold Edition)

In the case of the Fold3, Samsung will be adding support for the S Pen to make up for the lack of a Note phone this year. According to Blass, there will be two different versions: an S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro. We don’t know what makes these devices different, and there are no pictures of them in the leak. So, we still don’t know how Samsung is going to make a stylus work with the super-soft screens of foldables. Either the S Pen tip or the screen material will have to be much different than past Samsung products.
Lastly, the leak claims both phones will be IPX8 rated for water resistance. This is a big step up as Samsung had not figured out how to protect foldables from moisture when it released the second-gen devices. The last thing you want is your $2,000 phone crapping out because it got rained on a little.
Pricing is also absent from the leak, but don’t expect big price reductions. Some cheaper foldables are rumored, but the flagships foldables will probably cost between $1,000 and $2,000.
